• Cups are associated with Water and the water signs of the Zodiac: Cancer, Scorpio & Pisces
• Pentacles are associated with Earth and the earth signs of the Zodiac: Taurus, Virgo & Capricorn
• Swords are associated with Air and the air signs of the Zodiac: Gemini, Libra and Aquarius
• Wands are associated with Fire and the fire signs of the Zodiac: Leo, Aries and Sagittarius

Many of the numbered minor arcana cards also represent a sign of the zodiac. These can be very useful when trying to establish which zodiac sign a certain court card is representing as opposed to which element. Furthermore each of the court cards can represent the age or maturity level of the person they represent:

• Pages: Young children or people who are young at heart
• Knights: Young adults or people who are starting over
• Queens: Represent mature women or people with emotional maturity
• King: Represent mature men or men who are grounded and can provide leadership

Each type of court card also represents an element meaning the person the card represents may have a certain zodiac sign but will be influenced by the element associated with that court card:
